Any service member who has deployed overseas for an extended period of time can attest to the feeling of longing for home and the profound appreciation that is felt for the micro characteristics of a simple life. That experience is no different for me. After a multitude of deployments to foreign countries and witnessing scenarios, that we in the homeland would consider the unimaginable, play out in daily life for others in more dire situations, I can’t help but look in wonder at the stoic splendor of life’s simple pleasures. It is the appreciation of life's simplicities that have inspired and continue to drive my love for photography. Being able to capture a moment in time and share that is a therapeutic experience for me as an image taker and, I think, for those who derive some measure of emotional connection with the image itself. To that end, I sincerely hope that the images I share can make a connection with you.
